Rules for an app icon:
- one simple symbol;
- no text and no small details;
- a contrasting background;
- check it at 48 pixels.
Preparing the files
- Cut the grid into separate icons in any editor.
- Remove the white background if you need transparency: the AI generates on white.
- Trace to vector (SVG) for the website if you need perfect sharpness at any size.
- Check that sizes and margins are the same.
Mistakes
- Each icon as a separate generation: different line weights and styles. Use a grid.
- Too many details: at 24 pixels they turn into mush.
- Other people’s icons and logos: do not copy the icons of well-known apps and brands: someone else’s brand, logo or character.
